Maxillary sinus surgery via a lateral approach is a surgical technique that can be successfully performed even without inserting biomaterials inside the sinus, simultaneously placing implants after elevating the Schneiderian membrane. This technique offers the same predictability as the classic approach involving biomaterial placement, with the advantages of avoiding infection risks and reducing healing times as well as surgical costs. A new technique, recently published in the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, will also be presented. It involves inserting a collagenated porcine cortical bone lamina beneath the previously elevated Schneiderian membrane, along with simultaneous implant placement. The presence of the collagenated lamina prevents sinus membrane collapse onto the implants, thereby maximizing bone regeneration in contact with them without inserting heterologous particulate bone graft. During the webinar, numerous clinical cases with follow-ups exceeding 5 years will be presented, and the technique will be described step by step.
